A Week of Portugal: New Drinks for Portugal Day & Our First Santos Populares Nights

June in Lisbon needs no introduction. The city smells of grilled sardines, the streets fill with music, and everyone — locals and visitors alike — ends up celebrating something. This year, we're joining in properly. Here's what's happening at the café this week.

Portugal Day: Two New Drinks (and a Dessert) Inspired by Portuguese Classics

Today, June 10th, Portugal celebrates Dia de Portugal — and we're marking it with a special set created for everyone who loves Portuguese culture as much as we do.

Pastel de Nata Latte

The most famous Portuguese dessert, reimagined as a drink. We took the flavour of pastel de nata — silky custard, vanilla, a hint of cinnamon — and built a latte around it. But the best part happens right before it reaches your table: we set it on fire. The flame caramelizes the top into that signature burnt-sugar crust, just like the blistered top of a real nata fresh from the oven.

Azulejo Latte

A tribute to the hand-painted tiles that cover Lisbon's facades, churches, and metro stations. Each Azulejo Latte is finished with an exclusive blue pattern inspired by traditional azulejo designs — no two cups look quite the same. It tastes as good as it photographs (and yes, it photographs very well).

Tosta Baba de Camelo

Rounding out the set: caramelized toast topped with baba de camelo — the beloved Portuguese caramel mousse made from condensed milk — finished with a mix of toasted nuts and fresh raspberries. Crisp, golden edges, a silky caramel centre, and just enough fruit to keep you reaching for another bite.
The Portugal Day set is available now at the café — and it's staying on the menu all summer long

June 12–13: We're Open Late for Santos Populares

For the first time ever, we're staying open into the evening — and we couldn't have picked a better occasion. Santos Populares is Lisbon's biggest street party of the year: the night of Santo António, when the whole city spills outdoors with grilled sardines, music, and manjerico basil pots on every corner.

On June 12 and 13, we'll be celebrating together with our neighbours and everyone visiting the city. And because no Santos Populares is complete without sardines, we've created special sardine dishes just for these two nights:

  • Crispy sardines on little gem lettuce — fried sardines over crisp lettuce with creamy sauce, a snowfall of grated cheese, and crunchy fried onions. Eat it with your hands. That's the point.
  • The Sardine Toastie — grilled sourdough stacked with sardines, roasted red peppers, fresh coriander, and a garlicky yogurt sauce. Messy in the best possible way.

Pair them with a cold beer or a glass of white wine, find a spot near the door, and watch the city celebrate.
