Opening the second Sense of Coffee Spot in Lisbon's Baixa District
Lisbon, November 12, 2025 — Sense of Coffee is opening its second location, this time in Baixa. Earlier this year the café entered the top 10 coffee shops in Portugal at the European Coffee Trip Awards 2025.
Sense of Coffee began as a small specialty coffee shop by the Oceanário. Their first establishment opened in the Park das Nações area, very close to the Oriente metro station. It became known for breakfasts cooked to order, own desserts and carefully chosen beans; reviews on TripAdvisor and Google Maps most often mention the coffee, the hashbrowns with salmon, the pastrami sandwiches and the shakshuka.
Now they are also expanding in the heart of Lisbon, in Baixa, by opening a new Sense of Coffee & Wine restaurant at R. dos Fanqueiros, 267, 1100-232, Lisbon, near Rossio Metro station. The format is wider than the first café: coffee through the day, breakfast and lunch from the kitchen, and wine in the evening.
The menu runs from seasonal drinks — a ruby latte with hibiscus syrup — to the breakfast classics: eggs in every form, salads, snacks and mains.
For the opening the kitchen made one new dish: a miso shrimp sandwich — fried shrimp, a spicy miso sauce, crusty bread. It works equally well with coffee and with a glass of wine, which is rather the point of the whole place.
