Web Summit is one of the largest tech conferences in the world, held annually in Lisbon. In 2025, the event will take place from November 10–13 at the Altice Arena (MEO Arena) and FIL Exhibition Center, located in the Parque das Nações district. It is a great place for networking, lectures, and startup presentations. Over 70,000 participants are expected, including speakers from leading companies.
The Parque das Nações district, where Web Summit takes place
Parque das Nações is a modern district of Lisbon, built for Expo 1998. Here is the main space for Web Summit—an area next to the Tagus River, with futuristic architecture, parks, and views of the Vasco da Gama bridge.
How to get to Web Summit from the airport
Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) is only 5–7 km from the Altice Arena. Options:
Metro: Red line to Oriente station (15 min, €1–7). The fastest and cheapest way.
Local city taxis: ~€15–25, 10–15 min.
Uber/Bolt: ~€7–15, depending on demand.
Bus: Routes 728, 744, or 782 to Oriente (~€2, 20–30 min).
Transport in Lisbon
Lisbon has an excellent public transport system (metro, trams, buses, trains). Use the Navegante card for payment (tap-and-pay with a credit card or buy at the machine).
The metro is open from 6:30 to 1:00. There will be special shuttles or dedicated taxi areas for the Web Summit.
Communications and tariffs
Portugal has excellent 5G coverage. For tourists, I recommend a prepaid SIM from local operators (MEO, Vodafone, NOS). Buy at the airport or stores—there is a large shopping center, Centro Vasco da Gama, near the Web Summit venue, where you can find all popular operators. Almost all operators have eSIM.
Airalo eSIM is an alternative for quick connection (~€8–15 for 5–10 GB). Wi-Fi everywhere: hotels, cafes, venues.
Weather during Web Summit
Forecast for Nov 9–14, 2025, in Lisbon is mild, with a warm start and possible precipitation midweek. Temperatures are comfortable (day ~17–22°C, night ~10–14°C), but be ready for rain and wind. The pattern is: relatively dry at the start, rainy from Nov 12. Data from timeanddate.com (as of Nov 3, 2025; forecast may update—check before your trip).
Given the warm start and rainy days, dress in layers for comfort (the venue is air-conditioned, the streets are windy). Comfort is important—lots of walking (up to 10–15 km a day according to participants).
Clothes: Light jacket or windbreaker (waterproof for Nov 12–14), sweater/fleece for evenings. Jeans or chinos, shirts/polos for networking (business casual at the summit). Umbrella or raincoat is a must—rain can be sudden. For warm Nov 9–10, a T-shirt + light sweater is enough. An important point is that in 2024 it was impossible to enter the summit territory with an umbrella, it could only be left in the luggage room.
Footwear: Comfortable sneakers or flat shoes (venue has hard floors, the area has cobblestones). Avoid heels or new shoes—blisters are guaranteed. If rain, waterproof options (e.g., with Gore-Tex).
Extras: Scarf/hat for the wind (especially Nov 13–14), sunglasses for sunny spells. Don’t forget a backpack for gadgets (laptop, chargers)—it’ll protect from rain.
Preparing for the summit
Web Summit is an intense event with 70,000+ attendees, so good preparation helps maximize value. Many complained about chaos in previous years if not planned in advance (e.g., in X posts about 2023–2024 summits).
Networking tips: Download the Web Summit app a week before and set up your profile with key interests (AI, crypto, startups). Plan 1:1 meetings via the app — better than random chats in the crowd. Comment on X posts with the hashtags #WebSummit2025 or “Lisbon side events” to get DM invites. If you’re a founder, prepare an elevator pitch (30 sec) and business cards/QR codes for LinkedIn.
Side events: Don’t stick just to the main program—real deals often happen at afterparties. In 2025, expect a focus on AI/crypto meetups like Crypto AI:CON or Afterworks at Lunar HQ (Nov 10–13). Register on sites like hubvent.io or follow @WebSummit on X. Many are free, but fill up fast.
Web Summit is not just the main program, but hundreds of side events: meetups, parties, workshops. In 2025, the focus is on AI, crypto, startups.
Many events are free, but register in advance. Check X (for example, @LunarStrategy, @WebSummit) or other social networks. Full extended list of events around Web Summit.
